When Laurens de Bock moved from Club Brugge to Leeds United in the 2018 winter transfer window, it raised a few eyebrows in Belgium.

A transfer for the player wasn’t considered a shock because he didn’t have a place nailed down at Club Brugge and perhaps needed a change of scenery. He’d only played six times in the league before the January window, and that included brief appearances as a substitute.

Therefore to get a move to an ambitious Championship club was seen as quite fortunate and there was curiosity at how the fullback would get on.

De Bock was given a good run of six straight games when he moved to the English club but then slipped away from the reckoning and ended up in a similar situation to what he’d found himself in a Club Brugge.

Again, a transfer seemed fitting and this time it wasn’t quite as exciting, leaving Leeds United for a loan to KV Oostende.

But he’s only played 2 games for them so far. He missed the match against Eupen at the weekend, and didn’t play against Hoogstraten on Wednesday evening either.

Het Nieuwsblad report he’s got an ankle injury, but there’s no explanation of how serious it is.

The 25 year old really needs to be playing regularly on this loan. Injury setbacks won’t help him, and certainly won’t help Leeds United with plans to get a reasonable fee.
