Junior Firpo is set to leave Leeds United when his contract expires on June 30th, despite their efforts to keep him. He had offers from Italy and France before Real Betis finally turned their interest into action.
On June 12th, we covered claims from Spain that the left-back was one step away from returning to his old club. It was also stated only his signature is missing for the transfer to be made official.
Mucho Deporte state Real Betis are working to finalise the Leeds player’s signing, and it’s expected to be completed ‘in a week’.
The operation is in the final stage and the parties are sorting out the ‘fringes’. The 28-year-old can then return to Real Betis, six years leaving them for Barcelona.
The Dominican Republic international’s arrival will push Aston Villa left-back Álex Moreno further away from the Andalusian club.
Real Betis’ pursuit of the Leeds man is also reported in his home country by El Día. They state the former Barca man will sign a three-year contract and will earn around €14m for the length of the contract.
They claim Real Betis plan to make Junior Firpo’s transfer official on July 1st, a day after his contract expires with the Whites.
