Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci believes Middlesbrough can have an impact in the Premier League following their promotion to the top flight last season. Bellusci came up against Middlesbrough in the last campaign, but the Italian is currently on loan with Serie A side Empoli.

Speaking to Goal.it with regards to foreign managers, Bellusci gave Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka as an example of an import who has succeeded in the Championship. The 27-year-old said if you look at Middlesbrough last season they were a side who were organised, which was helped by the Spaniard being in charge.

Bellusci thinks now they are in the Premier League the North East club can be a success once they adapt to playing at a higher level.

“I think of Middlesbrough last year, a very well organised team, with a foreign coach. In my opinion, beyond the usual teething problems, they will do well this year in the Premier league,” said the Leeds United player.

Middlesbrough have picked up six points in their opening seven games this season, which leave them 16th in the table. They have recorded just one win so far, but have drawn three of their games.
