Leeds United star Luis Sinisterra has been hailed for his performances for Colombia during this international break.
The winger has been in fine form for his country over the last week, bagging a goal in the 1-0 win over Guatemala and then a double in the 3-2 win over Mexico last night.
Those were his first goals for his country, taking him to three in seven since making his debut against Algeria in 2019.
He had been missing from several squads in between then and now but looks likely to be a permanent fixture in the side moving forwards as the South American country rebuild following their failure to qualify for the World Cup.
Three goals in two games have put the Leeds man in the spotlight and he is earning plenty of praise, with Gol Caracol stating ‘everything improved’ against Mexico when he was introduced to the game.
He, and teammate Jorge Carrascal, helped the team step things up in terms of their football and attitude, according to the outlet, and they were ‘key’ to the comeback win.
They demonstrated they are ‘not even a little bit reluctant’ to take on leadership roles in the team, with the Leeds man described as ‘hungry for glory’ and Carrascal compared to Neymar. Indeed, he has been labelled the Colombian Neymar before now.
The pair are part of the new generation, and this ‘marvellous performance’ has given the country something to talk about, ‘winning the hearts of millions’ in the process.
That’s backed up by the Colombian edition of Marca, who say the Leeds forward is ‘in a great moment’ and proved it with his double against Mexico.
They add that he is a player who ‘makes a big difference in the national team’, with the sentiment very much that he could be one of the stars of the new set up under Néstor Lorenzo.
It’s been a great international break for him, and Leeds will be hoping he can carry his form back to Elland Road with him.
