Leeds United are one of the ‘potential options’ for LAFC star Jose Cifuentes as he gears up to become a free agent at the end of this year.
That’s according to journalist Tom Bogert, who says ‘a lot of teams’ will be interested in the midfielder as he continues to impress at LAFC.
He’s been with the MLS side since January 2020 following a move from CD Catholic University, making 104 appearances since, scoring 14 goals and registering 17 assists.
That has not gone unnoticed in England, with a report in August last year stating Leeds were one of the sides interested in him.
Later that month it was claimed he was being ‘fought over’ by Leeds and Brighton, while at the end of the December it was claimed they remained ‘interested’ in getting a deal done for the 24-year-old.
That never happened in January but Bogert says he’s been told that Leeds are one of the potential options for the player.
According to his belief, Cifuentes will be of interest to several teams in Europe as his contract is expiring at the end of this year, so he could either be available on a free at that point, or as an ‘undervalued summer transfer’.
Which idea Leeds are considering remains to be seen but it appears they are very much still in the mix for the player and keeping an eye on his progress.
