Leeds United fans have probably noticed today that’s there’s a building chorus of Spanish claims regarding Junior Firpo moving to Elland Road this summer.

Several Catalan sources are presenting the transfer as close to being done, as well as claims from the media close to Real Betis covering their local club’s slice of the expected deal.

Mundo Deportivo have now joined the party and that’s worth acknowledging, given it was they who first reported Marcelo Bielsa’s side had moved into the picture to sign the fullback.

They say Firpo ‘approaches’ Elland Road, having earlier rejected an offer from Celta Vigo because he doesn’t want to continue playing in La Liga, fancying a move elsewhere this summer.

Most outlets have put the transfer fee at €15m, but Mundo Deportivo report it could reach €17m. In terms of modern transfers, the difference is hardly anything and won’t be of concern to Leeds United fans.

Marcelo Bielsa’s intervention has been one factor which has convinced Firpo, with Mundo Deportivo saying the Yorkshire club’s desire to get into Europe has been another factor.
