Former Cagliari manager Davide Balladrini has won his court case against the Serie A club following his sacking in 2012. Balladrini was sacked by Massimo Cellino, who has since sold the Sardinian club before purchasing Leeds United in 2014.
Isola 24sport have confirmed Balladrini has won his case after it was deemed the termination of his employment was unlawful.
The Italian coach had three spells under the Leeds United chief, but it was during his third stint at the club when things turned sour. Cellino had reinstalled Balladrini in November 2011, but he lasted just a few months in the job before his sacking in March 2012.
It’s also been reported the judge has yet to rule on whether Balladrini will receive compensation, although Cellino will not be picking up the bill despite it being his decision to sack him.
It’s been revealed current owner Tommaso Giulini must pay compensation to Balladrini if the judge rules on this because Cellino sold him the club before taking over at Leeds United.
Cellino came to England with a reputation for sacking mangers easily, and was nicknamed the ‘manager eater’ in his home country. Balladrini was one of a host of managers he sacked during his time at Cagliari, and since buying Leeds United he’s continued to hire and fire.
However, it seems bringing in Garry Monk in the summer has been the answer for Cellino with Leeds United on course to grab a play-off place.
