Leeds United’s Souleymane Doukara and Newcastle United’s Karl Darlow have been named in the EFL team of the week. Each week the best eleven from the football league are picked and after last weekend’s round of matches Doukara and Darlow have made the cut.
Doukara was utilised on the wing in Leeds United’s victory over Aston Villa at the weekend, and the Frenchman was instrumental in his side’s goals. He provided the cross for Kemar Roofe to net Leeds United‘s winner, and helped continue Garry Monk’s sides good run of results.
The win leaves Leeds United 4th in the Championship table, and well placed to grab a play-off place come May.
Unlike Doukara, Darlow was on the losing team with Newcastle United, but the goalkeeper was key in his side only losing 2-1.
Down to nine men at half time Darlow helped Newcastle United stay in the game with a string of saves before Nottingham Forest scored a late winner. Despite the loss last Friday night Rafa Benitez’s side remain on top of the table, one point ahead of Brighton.
