Leeds United’s Chris Wood and Newcastle United’s Dwight Gayle are leading the way in the European charts from a report conducted by TMW. The two forwards have been in impressive form for their clubs this season, and have been instrumental in Leeds United’s and Newcastle United’s push for promotion to the Premier League.
TMW have put together a list of the top scorers from the second tiers of England, Italy, France, Germany and Spain. Wood and Gayle are currently out on their own with twenty league goals this season, with Bristol City’s Tammy Abraham making up the top three after netting eighteen times.
The closest challengers to the Championship trio are Hellas Verona’s Giampaolo Pazzini and Lugo’s Joselu, who have both scored seventeen goals.
Wood has shown a vast improvement for Leeds United in this campaign, and surpassed his tally for last season already. Garry Monk’s side have a realistic chance grabbing one of the play-off spots, and Wood has been key in Leeds United’s climb up the table.
Gayle joined Newcastle United from Crystal Palace in the last summer window, and he seems destined for a return to the Premier League next season. The youngster has been Newcastle United’s main source of goals, which has helped Rafa Benitez’s side top the Championship table going into the final stages of the season.
