Over the past few days, reports in England stated Leeds United have made an offer to sign Red Bull Salzburg’s Brenden Aaronson in the winter market.

The attacking midfielder joined the Austrian champions from Philadelphia Union in January 2021.

Having managed seven goals and five assists in 25 matches in all competitions in the second half of the last season, he has three goals and seven assists from 26 matches this term.

According to SALZBURG24, the American has ‘aroused the interest’ of Marcelo Bielsa and his side.

The Premier League club made an initial offer of €18m, which was rejected. They returned with an improved offer, but the outlet explains Red Bull Salzburg ‘remain ice cold’ again.

‘Even at €24m’, the club’s sporting director, Christoph Freund ‘did not agree’ to sell the player this month. In other words, Leeds’ latest approach was also turned down by the Austrian side.

Red Bull Salzburg have made their intentions clear, after Leeds made a new attempt to sign Aaronson in January.

“We are not giving away any regular players during this transfer period,” the Austrian champions told SALZBURG24.
