Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci last night scored on his home debut in Empoli’s 2-1 win over Serie A new boys Crotone. The 26-year-old is currently on loan with the Tuscan club for the season, and has finally started to get regular games.

Empoli went into last night’s games propping up the league table, but Bellusci’s opener set up the Italian side for their first Serie A win of the season.

Despite Crotone levelling the scores just before half time, Empoli netted again in the second half, which resulted in Bellusci’s side lifting themselves out of the relegation zone.

It now seems Bellusci has settled since returning to Italy this summer after the Leeds United player had to watch from the bench for Empoli’s opening two competitive games this season.

The former Ascoli defender made his debut just before the international break in Empoli’s 2-0 defeat to Udinese, and despite his side losing he was one of the standout players.

Empoli have a right of redemption on Bellusci, and if he continues this way they could make his move permanent next summer.
