Former Fiorentina midfielder Andrea Lazzari will today be officially announced as a Pisa player after coming to an agreement yesterday to sign for the Serie B side. The 31-year-old was released by Bari in the summer, and was linked with Leeds United in recent weeks.

Tuttopisa have revealed Pisa are close to completing the deal after agreeing personal terms with Lazzari. The Italian has been without a club since leaving Bari, and due to being a free agent the Tuscan side were able to land him despite the transfer window closing last week.

Lazzari was being linked with a number of Italian clubs during the summer, and also in England with Leeds United. The Championship side now have another chance to sign a free agent following claims in the British media they are interested in former Aston Villa player Kieran Richardson.

Lazzari played under Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino during his 3 seasons with Cagliari, and during the last transfer window he hinted he would welcome a reunion with his former boss.

Whilst under Cellino at Cagliari the player made nearly 100 appearances before getting his big move to Fiorentina. The midfielder has also represented Italy U21s on 9 occasions.
