Leeds United defender Laurens De Bock has completed a loan move to Belgian side Zulte Waregem after it was made clear he had ‘no future’ at Elland Road.
Het Nieuwsblad report that the defender, who spent the first half of this season on loan at Sunderland and then the second half at ADO Den Haag, has already agreed his departure.
They explain that the 27-year-old was informed he had ‘no future’ with Leeds United, who are looking likely to return to the Premier League next year.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side currently need four points from their last three games to secure promotion and, as such, are already pushing ahead with plans to change up their squad.
De Bock was not a part of those plans and reports earlier this week indicated he had already met Zulte Waregem and that talks had gone well.
They have now finalised a season-long loan deal for the left-back, negotiating a ‘purchase option’ into the move also.
The newspaper reports that the deal has ‘been in the air’ for some time, although they do no make any details about the move clear, specifically how much that purchase option is worth, clear at this point.
Securing the defender is certainly something Zulte are pleased about, though, if CEO Eddi Cordier’s comments are anything to go by.
“We have been able to close a good deal with Leeds, and we expect him to quickly integrate and regain his best level,” he told the club’s website, relayed by Nieuwsblad.
“With the arrival of De Bock, we choose someone who knows the Belgian league through and through.”
