A group of Leeds United youngsters are set for the experience of a lifetime later this month as they take part in the fourth edition of the Memorial Franco Chignoli tournament.

The tournament is set to take place in Casnate con Bernate, which is near Como, at the Eracle Sports Centre, facilities which are partly owned by Italy World Cup winner Gianluca Zambrotta.

There’s excitement from the local media at the level of clubs taking part this year, and a belief that it shows how far the tournament has come in four years.

This time there’s going to be four foreign clubs, with Il Giorno reporting those to be Leeds United, Schalke, Marseille and Bayern Munich.

The tournament is said to be for Pulcini 2° anno, which is players usually aged 10.

There are 24 clubs taking part, and the following named are named: Bayern Munich, Schalke 04, Leeds United, Marseille, AC Milan, AS Roma, Empoli, Inter Milan, Juventus, Torino, Atalanta and Como.

The tournament is officially accredited by Italy’s FIGC and will take place on May 24th and 25th.
