It’s not been the best few days for Leeds United.
Down to third place in the Championship, Marcelo Bielsa’s men suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to West Brom at the weekend.
The Leeds manager had praised West Brom’s attacking options strongly in the run up to the match and was proven right, much to his own displeasure.
Now, there’s news from Sweden that a key Leeds player was injured during the defeat to the Baggies.
According to the country’s football association, in an official press release, Pontus Jansson injured his foot during the match and is now unavailable for international duty.
Manager Janne Andersson has chosen to replace the central defender with Bologna’s Mattias Svanberg, who is actually a midfielder.
There’s no explanation of how serious Jansson’s injury is, and that would be news for Leeds United to or the player to share, rather than the Swedish FA.
Pontus Jansson has already made 15 appearances for the Championship club so far this season.
