Leeds United are ‘not giving up’ on a deal for Dinamo Zagreb defender Joško Gvardiol and are convinced he is ready for Premier League football this season.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were first linked with the young defender in August and have ramped up their interest since then, with reports yesterday that they have made a €22m bid.
That same report indicated they were battling RB Leipzig for his signature and ‘everything was open’ in regards to a move.
It’s also been made clear the biggest issue for Leeds is Leipzig’s willingness to leave Gvardiol in Croatia for the time being is making them a more attractive proposition at present.
However, Leeds are refusing to give up according to 24 Sata, and that is because they are ‘convinced’ he can play in the Premier League this season.
They report that Leeds are ‘crazy’ in their intention to persuade the youngster to pick them over Leipzig as Bielsa sees him as the ‘dominant stopper’ that his side needs.
They are also convinced that Gvardiol’s stay at Elland Road would only be a short one, and they could make ‘fat money’ on a sale in a year or two, when they think the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea or Liverpool will go ‘crazy’ for him.
That is why they are pushing so hard to get their man, with the chances of the central defender leaving Dinamo ‘increasing every day’.
