Leeds United striker Jay-Roy Grot has completed a move to Germany second division side VfL Osnabrück, leaving Elland Road on a free transfer.
Grot returned to Leeds in June last year after spending last season on loan with Vitesse, a move that proved to be extremely unsuccessful.
He has not been seen since his return, with reports earlier this month stating that he couldn’t join a new club until he had terminated his deal with Leeds.
That was followed by reports he was training with Dutch side Ado Den Haag, with it seeming likely he would join them and return to his homeland in this window.
That hasn’t happened, though, with NOZ instead reporting that he has joined Osnabrück on a free transfer, with the 2.Bundesliga side adding him and Sebastian Müller from Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld.
Grot has signed a one-year deal with his new club, where he will be hoping to enjoy more success than he enjoyed at Leeds, where he managed one goal and one assist in 22 games after arriving from NEC Nijmegen in 2017.
His new club are certainly excited about his arrival either way, with managing director Benjamin Schmedes praising their latest capture.
“Sebastian Müller is a great forward talent, he will further increase our flexibility in attack,” Fussball Transfers report him saying.
“Jay-Ray Grot has a profile due to his stature and style of play that will complement our squad in many ways.”
