Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s wages were always going to be a big part of a potential move to Leeds United.
The striker earns €3.4m per year at Hamburg, and that’s one of the reasons the German club are so keen to get him off their books this summer.
Leeds United were never likely to pay the whole amount, and Hamburg were prepared to subsidise the player’s wages for a season on loan, but the big question was always just how much they’d be prepared to subsidise.
In that respect, Hamburger Abendblatt reports that Leeds United are looking for a ‘bargain’.
Whilst the German newspaper doesn’t point out exactly how much Leeds are wanting to pay of Lasogga’s wages, it’s pointed out that Chris Wood earns €900k per year, and the figures would have to be closer to that for a transfer to happen.
That doesn’t mean the potential transfer is dead yet, and talks haven’t ended, but Hamburg may well be disappointed at the way negotiations have been going.
The German club had expected Leeds United to meet them around half way.
