Leeds United have included UD Almería’s Ibrahima Koné in their target list ahead of the summer window.
Almería took the striker from FC Lorient in August 2023 and after their relegation from La Liga, they let him move to Al-Okhdood on loan last summer.
Koné has scored three goals and registered an assist from 15 games for the Saudi club this season. He’s made only three appearances this year but that hasn’t stopped him from ‘attracting interest’ from Leeds.
That’s at least what Africa Foot are reporting, and they state Leeds have the 25-year-old on their list for next season.
Daniel Farke’s side are leading the Championship table with 79 points, two points ahead of second placed Sheffield United and four ahead of Burnley, who are in third spot.
The Whites are frontrunners to secure direct promotion to the Premier League and have been planning for the next window. Leeds are looking at Koné as an option for attack.
Africa Foot state his ‘future at Almería is uncertain’ even though he has a contract until 2028 with a €10m release clause.
For now, Leeds are interested in Koné and have included him in their list. If they make a move, they may try to lower the price below €10m, considering he has no future at Almería.
Ibrahima Koné has had a varied career, playing in countries including Norway, Turkey, France, Spain and is now in Saudi. A move to the Premier League, should Leeds United seal their promotion, would appear very fortunate indeed.
