Ibai Gomez to Leeds United is a story which has been growing this week, with three main points so far and everything else shooting off from that.
Goal reported the interest was still there and that Marcelo Bielsa is ‘hopeful’ of a potential transfer. El Correo reported interest from Eibar, Athletic Club Bilbao and Real Sociedad, whilst explaining Alaves are keen on a renewal.
Then Sport Witness was informed that the player is ‘very interested’ in a move to English football, and that Leeds United’s history and status, as well as the presence of Bielsa, would be an attraction.
It’s worth noting that despite it being twisted elsewhere, at no point did we report the player is ‘desperate’ for a move to Leeds.
The claims are making waves in Spain, and Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo’s Basque edition covers the rumours, and doesn’t dismiss Bielsa’s chances of getting the Alaves player.
However, like El Correo, they do point out there’s serious competition ahead for the Whites. On top of that, it’s explained Gomez is ‘very comfortable’ with his current situation at Alaves.
It would appear the Spanish club have a chance to please him with a good renewal, but if they miss that opportunity there’s certainly others waiting.
