According to claims in the German media Stuttgart are interested in Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Ante Coric. This is likely to put a question mark over the future of Alexandru Maxim with the Bundesliga 2 side, after the playmaker was linked with Leeds United in the last window.
Echo24 have reported Stuttgart are the latest club to be linked with Coric following interest in recent years from the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich. However the 20 year old has had a dip in form this season, and a move to club like Stuttgart now looks more realistic.
Stuttgart have just achieved promotion back to the Bundesliga after they were crowed champions last weekend, and will now need to consolidate their place in the top flight.
Hannes Wolf will be looking to add to his squad this summer to compete in the Bundesliga, and Coric is said to be an option for the Stuttgart boss.
If successful in their pursuit for Coric this would put the Croatian youngster in direct competition with Maxim for the attacking midfielder role. There has been speculation Maxim could leave this summer with Leeds United showing an interest, and if Coric does sign then the Romania international’s future at the club would be in doubt.
During the last window Maxim’s agent confirmed he held initial talks with Leeds United over a possible move to the Championship side. At the time only Leeds United and Club America were showing an interest, but more clubs are expected to join the race in the summer.
The Championship side have continued be linked with the Romanian, and could look to move in on the player in the next window. Garry Monk’s departure could have an impact, but if Leeds interest continues after the manager, then the Coric chase could boost their chances.
