Leeds United have been given a further boost in their pursuit of Chievo Verona’s Caleb Ekuban after it was today confirmed Manuel Pucciarelli has joined the Serie A side.
Leeds United have been linked with Ekuban in recent weeks, with claims in the past few days they are close to announcing his arrival.
Empoli have confirmed on their website that Pucciarelli has signed for Chievo on a two year loan deal, with a obligatory redemption. The 26 year old can be deployed as second striker or a centre forward, and his arrival could suggest Chievo don’t see a future for Ekuban in their squad.
Out on loan last season, Ekuban would be an addition to the options at Chievo, and with only Serge Gakpé as a striker leaving, and he hardly featured, signing Pucciarelli signals Chievo aren’t counting on the Leeds linked player.
Yesterday we covered claims from Italy that Ekuban’s move to Leeds United could be made official soon, with a deal said to be agreed for the 23 year old.
The young forward scored 17 goals whilst out on loan with Albanian side Partizani Tirana last season, which brought him to the attention of Leeds United.
