IFK Norrkoping chairman Peter Hunt has told the Swedish media the club have to sell players in order to bring in extra income. The Swedish side have sold four players over the past year, with speculation Leeds United target Linus Wahlqvist could be the next to leave.

IFK Norrkoping recently announced they’d made a turnover of 100m Krona for the past 12 months. IFK chairman Peter Hunt has revealed to SVT that the increase in this turnover was dependent on selling players.

Hunt said they made around 20m Krona with players exiting the club over the past year, which was a big contribution to the club’s 30m Krona profit.

“Most of it depends on a lot of extra income, we sold four players and it contributed to about 20m,” said the IFK chief. For comparison 20m Swedish Krona is around £1.8m.

IFK have budgeted 80m Krona from the sale of players in this financial year, explain SVT, and Wahlqvist could be one of those sold. The 20 year old has been the subject of interest from a number of foreign clubs in the past 8 months, including Leeds United.

The Championship side tried to sign the Sweden international in the summer, and have continued to monitor the defender throughout the season.

The Leeds United target has stated he would be interested in a move to the Championship, but the Elland Road club will face competition from the likes of Stuttgart and Valencia.
