Norrkoping defender Linus Wahlqvist has confirmed to the Swedish media he doesn’t know anything about Valencia’s interest in him. In the past week there have been claims the Spanish side have stepped up their pursuit of the Leeds United target.
Speaking to Folkbladet , Wahlqvist was asked about his links with Valencia and also other foreign clubs. The 20-year-old said it’s likely clubs aren’t just coming to watch him, but are also getting a lowdown on other players. The youngster believes it’s natural for there to be interest, but still knows nothing about Valencia monitoring him.
“I do not know much about that, quite frankly (Valencia interest). They’re probably watching other players, not just me. When your club side and national team are playing well, it will be obviously attractive to watch our matches,” said the Sweden international
There were reports during the last window that Leeds United are still interested in the player following their attempts to sign the right back last summer. Leeds United’s recent run sees them as serious promotion contenders, and as such the club is becoming more attractive to potential signings.
Norrkoping need to sell players to balance the books, which will helps Leeds United. Another boost is that the story of Valencia interest has pretty died in the media local to the Spanish club, with other targets now the subject of speculation.
