When Laurens de Bock signed for Leeds United in the January 2018 transfer window there was some surprise in Belgium and doubt over whether he would be the required level to get consistent matches for the club.
He’d been slipping out of the Club Brugge team and that’s why he was looking to leave, however, the confidence Leeds showed by signing the player wasn’t replicated in the Belgian media.
They were probably right, and in August of the same season he joined K.V. Oostende on loan, after it was clear he wouldn’t be playing a senior role under Marcelo Bielsa.
That loan perhaps didn’t go as well as it could have and for some months it was made clear in Belgium that De Bock would be sent back to Leeds United.
