Leeds United summer signing Marcus Antonsson has told the Swedish media he wants to get back into Garry Monk’s starting eleven. The Swede joined Leeds United in the last window, but has hardly figured in recent weeks.

Speaking to Fotbolltransfers.com, the Leeds United forward was asked about his short-term objectives in football. Antonsson said he hopes to start playing more regularly for Leeds United, which he hopes will eventually lead to a call up for Sweden. The player said it’s a dream of his to play for his national team, but his focus now is help Leeds United to promotion.

“To get back into the starting line-up. My full focus is to do well here. Then I would obviously like to play in the national team. It is a big dream for me. But the focus is to get back and help Leeds United to reach the Premier League,” said the Leeds United player.

Antonsson arrived at Elland Road in the summer, but due to the form of Chris Wood he’s found it difficult to get a regular place in the starting eleven. The attacker has made just eight league appearances in this campaign, scoring one goal.
