Leeds United forward Marcus Antonsson has told the Swedish media he was disappointed to be left out of Jannes Andersson first Sweden selection.

The 25-year-old showed some good early season form with Leeds United, but was overlooked despite the retirement of Zlatan Ibrahimović from the international scene this summer.

Speaking to fotbolltransfers.com, Antonsson was asked about his objectives getting into the Sweden squad after not yet being picked by Andersson. The Leeds United summer signing believes his record at his former club and Kalmar, and early season form, was enough to get him selected by the new Sweden coach.

However, the Swede said he wouldn’t continue to think about being overlooked by Andersson, and will just get his head down.

“I know at Kalmar I was the top scorer in Allsvenskan and continued to deliver in the beginning here at Leeds. I was frankly disappointed at not being selected for Jannes (Andersson) first squad. At the same time, I am not one who dwells, but works even harder,” said the Leeds United player.

Antonsson joined Leeds United in the summer, and was one of Garry Monk’s first signings for the club. The player showed some early promise when he was praised by the likes of former Leeds United forward Andy Ritchie, but he’s hardly figured in recent weeks in Monk’s plans.
