Former Leeds United attacker Tomas Brolin has revealed the reasons his move to Elland Road didn’t work out.
The Swede moved to Leeds United from Serie A side Parma in 1995 after being signed by Howard Wilkinson, but he failed to deliver during his time at the club.
Speaking to FourFourTwo, Brolin was asked why his move to Leeds United wasn’t a success: “My position was one of the main points and poor management. I like Yorkshire and the fans were amazing. I still follow Leeds like a supporter.
“They need to get back into the Premier League because the fans are incredible – 30,000 to 35,000 at home games even now.”
Brolin came to England with a huge reputation when he signed for Leeds United , but had fitness issues whilst at Elland Road.
The former Sweden international played just 20 Premier League games during his two seasons at Elland Road, and during the period he had loan spells with Zurich and his former club Parma.
In 1998 Brolin was sold to Crystal Palace, but had just one season with the London club before finishing his career in Sweden.
Given the expectations on his arrival, Brolin is considered by many fans to be one of Leeds United’s biggest transfer flops.
