Serie B side Avellino have joined the face to sign former Juventus star Simone Pepe, according to claims in the Italian media. The 31-year-old is currently a free agent after recently leaving Verona Chievo, and has also been linked with a move to Leeds United in the past few weeks.
TMW have reported the ex-Italy international is a possibility for Avellino as they look to strengthen their squad in this transfer window. The Italian side have already made contact with a number of players, and they are considering Pepe because they believe he would bring experience to the squad.
Despite his age the winger played in 22 Serie A games last season, and would be a good addition to any interested clubs.
Earlier this month we covered reports from Italy that Leeds United have already made contact with the representatives of Pepe with regards to the Italian moving to England, and talks could begin once the player makes a decision on his future.
The Championship side were linked with Pepe last summer before he took the decision to join Serie A side Chievo from Juventus.
