Despite the story going a bit quiet over the weekend as Leeds United thumped Chelsea at Elland Road, the Whites are still keen on Wilfried Gnonto.

The young forward has been a target for Jesse Marsch in these last few weeks of the transfer window, but the Premier League side are hoping to get him on a cheap deal, which FC Zürich are against.

He is by far their most valuable player, and they intend to get as much money as possible from Leeds if they can, which is why their demands remain high despite the 18-year-old only having one year left on his contract.

Corriere dello Sport bring a short update on the situation on Tuesday, explaining that Gnonto is ‘waiting to know his future in these last days of the transfer market’.

As things stand, Leeds’ ‘latest offer’, of around €5m, ‘has not yet been accepted’ by the Swiss side, who ‘would like €8m’.

This means the Elland Road side are just €3m off getting their man, which feels like something Andrea Radrizzani could find down the back of his sofa if he really wanted to.

Something to keep in mind as we edge closer to entering the final week of the transfer, when clubs start getting desperate both for money and for players.
