Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci has questioned how defensive coaching was conducted whist he was in England. The 26-year-old this month joined Empoli on a season loan with a right of redemption.

TMW have reported on comments Bellusci made during his press conference where he was officially presented as an Empoli player. He said he wanted to return to his home country because he loves working on the defensive side of the game. Bellusci believes this wasn’t the case in England because the Italians are tactically better.

“I wanted to strongly come back here for so many reasons. I love working on the defensive and in England this was not done. Tactically Italy’s ahead of everyone,” said the defender.

Bellusci joined Leeds United from Catania in 2014, but it always seemed he had a desire to return to Italy. The player came in for flak last season for his performances, which led to speculation he would return to his home country.
