The Argentine press may not have an update on Leeds United’s chase for River Plate defender Lucas Martinez Quarta, but there are still reports coming from somewhere else.
Italian website Calcio Mercato is the one covering the rumours, claiming that the Whites could hijack the player’s move to Inter Milan.
Their report states there are now ‘deep contacts’ from the English side to bring the defender to Elland Road.
It’s written that the player’s current valuation is between €12m and €15m. That’s why he’s considered to be a ‘luxury signing’ for Leeds United.
Marcelo Bielsa’s interest in Quarta has been reported for a couple of weeks now, with Sport Witness managing to confirm that Leeds have been following the player for some time.
But those reports from Argentina hadn’t said anything about Inter Milan’s pursuit of the player, so perhaps the Whites will find some tough competition for his signing this summer.
