Leeds United have been linked repeatedly with Erick Pulgar over the past couple of weeks, and the stories have mainly been coming from Tuscany, along with some excitement from Chile, the player’s home country.
Now it seems increasingly clear that La Nazione and/or Fiorentina are playing a game to try and tempt Leeds United and/or others into paying an ever reducing price.
On September 18th, it was reported Leeds had offered £10m for the midfielder, who appeared to be a back-up option in case other deals failed. September 21st then saw hints, again from La Nazione, that Marcelo Bielsa’s side could offer €15m, which had a chance of success.
Fast-forward to September 27th and they reported Leeds were ready to go to €12m, which wasn’t enough, however, at €14/15m… ‘anything can happen’.
La Nazione’s September 29th newspaper claims Leeds ‘continue to focus’ on Pulgar, a player who ‘remains unsellable’ for Fiorentina. It’s then stated the situation could change if €13m is offered.
So that’s from €15m, to €15/14m, to €13m all in around a week. The asking price may drop to €12m tomorrow, which is the figure it was claimed Leeds had offered.
At such a price, Pulgar would likely have to have access to EU citizenship to get a work permit.
