Leeds United coach James Beattie has labelled forward Chris Wood a beast following his recent impressive form. The 24-year-old has been in good goalscoring form for his club, and continued this whilst on international duty with New Zealand.

Speaking to the YEP, Beattie said everybody has seen an improvement in Wood this season, but believes the forward should be constantly performing at this level. The Leeds United first team coach drew comparisons with his own style of play in the way he and Woods try get physical with the opposition.

“Everybody’s seen a good improvement but Chris Wood at this level should be destroying teams. He’s so physically strong; a beast, really. I wasn’t as big as Chris but I know that defenders playing against me knew they’d get a whack,” said Beattie on the forward.

Wood has been a major reason for Leeds United turning their season around in recent weeks. With Garry Monk’s team not conceding many at the back the New Zealander has been providing the goals in the league and also the EFL Cup.
