The Turkish media are getting a little excited with their Jason Denayer and Leeds United claims. It’s all over the place, Sporx, Futbol Arena, Turkish CNN.
Interest in the country is because Galatasaray are trying to get the Manchester City owned player back at the club, which is one of the major stories in the Turkish rumour mill right now.
Gala want to loan Denayer again but City would prefer a permanent transfer. Last week the club’s vice president Abdurrahman Albarrak explained: “Jason Denayer wants a return to the club, but they want €10m.”
So where have Leeds come in?
In the aftermath of the Yorkshire club signing Jack Harrison on loan from Manchester City there came a raft of the endless ‘Leeds United should sign…’ articles, related to more loans from the Premier League champions.
It’s not the craziest idea in the world, Pep Guardiola is a Bielsa disciple so he’d probably want to help out if possible, but Denayer may be a stretch too far given City’s demands and his preference for a Gala return.
The Turkish reports are crediting English claims, but once again it’s just those claims being mistaken and the rumour then being laundered through various sources to make it appear something it’s not.
