Leeds United still have a chance to sign Sturm Graz midfielder James Jeggo in the summer due to his continuing contract situation with the Austrian side.

The Championship side have been linked with the Australia international in recent weeks, and they could move in on the player ahead of the main transfer market.

Despite being a regular at Sturm Graz this season, and impressing last week in his side’s 6-1 win over FC Admira Wacker Mödling, Jeggo’s contract with the club is set to expire in the summer.

There have been no updates in the Austrian media about whether Sturm Graz have offered him a contract extension, and even though he’s held talks with regards to remaining with the club it seems he’s still not been offered a new deal, or one which is acceptable.

Nine of Jeggo’s teammates will be free agents in the summer, but only six have been offered contract extensions by Sturm Graz.

We recently covered reports that Leeds United are monitoring the situation with Jeggo, with his club conceding the player could leave Sturm Graz.

Leeds United will be able to speak to Jeggo next month with regards to a pre-contract agreement, and there’s a possibility they can land him on a free transfer.

Victor Orta, the man behind Leeds looking far and wide for players, would have to use all his powers of persuasion to convince Jeggo that Elland Road free transfer option for him, but a potential route to the Premier League could be all the motivation needed.
