Ander Iturraspe is now repeatedly being linked to Leeds United by the Spanish media.

It all started at the beginning of March, when Spanish newspaper AS reported the 30 year old could be heading to Elland Road.

With his Athletic Club Bilbao contract not being renewed, the player is available on a free transfer. it was thought he fancies trying his luck outside of Spain, and that Leeds would be an option, even more so if they get promotion to the Premier League.

The claims have continued since, and today AS again say Leeds ‘can be the destination’ for the midfielder.

He’s not the only one who will be leaving Athletic on a free transfer this summer, and Marcelo Bielsa’s links obviously encourage the idea of transfers.

On Wednesday, Markel Susaeta held a very emotional press conference to announce his departure, having failed to find agreement on a renewal.

The 31 year old has been much more important to Athletic than Iturraspe, and would be an ambitious option for Leeds. A link for the winger hasn’t been made yet but likely will, and it would surely take play-off success to make the club attractive enough.
