After Garry Monk had already secured the loan signings of Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson in the summer transfer window, he still considered signing another central defender.
Tom Beugelsdijk was linked with a move to Elland Road, with Monk impressed with scout reports Leeds United had compiled.
Monk will certainly be looking to add to his Leeds squad during the next summer transfer window and it’s reasonable to believe that Beugelsdijk would remain a target for the club.
Promotion to the Premier League would undoubtedly lead to a desire to add strength in depth, and failing to achieve the jump this season would leave Leeds doubly determined to have a better go next time.
Beugelsdijk is a cult hero at current club ADO Den Haag, and has the kind of character which has seen Jansson become such a favourite with Leeds United fans.
Speaking to Voetbal Zone about his future, Beugelsdijk has made it clear he’d look well upon a move to English football: “It may just be that I’m playing here seven years or perhaps go for a great competition like England. It depends on what comes my way.”
The 26 year old has a contract with ADO Den Haag which runs until June 2018, meaning there’ll be downward pressure on his price in the summer. Leeds United could potentially get themselves a bargain, leaving more funds to strengthen other areas of the squad.
