Leeds United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of NEC star Anthony Limbombe, following claims in Germany Hamburg have distanced themselves from a possible deal to sign the youngster. Last week the Dutch media reported Hamburg and Leeds United were both interested in signing the 21-year-old this summer.
Germany’s Bild newspaper have said that Hamburg don’t see Limbombe as a serious candidate to bring in during this transfer window.
The Bundesliga side are looking to strengthen this squad this summer, and a players have been linked with them, including Limbombe.
However, despite his impressive form over the past 18 months Hamburg are likely to look elsewhere to bolster their attacking options.
Last week we covered reports that Leeds United and Hamburg were set to fight it out for Limbombe as the player looks set to leave NEC. The Dutch side would need to sell the young attacker this summer to get a decent transfer fee for him, and the player has expressed a desire to leave the club.
Leeds United failed last summer with an attempt to sign Limbombe, and have continued to monitor his situation in the past 12 months.
