Leeds United have ‘sounded out’ Celta Vigo’s Javi Galán about a move to Elland Road.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who put Leeds among the clubs keen on Galán this summer following his impressive performances for Celta.
They explain that Galán is well-liked in Spain, with Barcelona putting the 27-year-old among the low-cost options they’re looking at as they seek competition for Jordi Alba.
Barca boss Xavi is a big endorser of the player, but he is not the only fan of him, with Atlético Madrid, Sevilla and Leeds in the picture.
Indeed, last season the latter pair had ‘already sounded out’ the player about a move, but it was Celta who finally got him.
They now consider him as ‘untransferable’ because he has become indisputable during his first season at Balaídos. In other words, they wouldn’t be that keen to sell.
Leeds, then, will have to work hard to convince them into a deal if they still want to sign Galán this summer.
Whether they’d be interested is debatable, particularly after they paid £13.5m to sign Junior Firpo from Barcelona last year.
He’s not had the best first year in England, so perhaps they now want competition, and if Galán is that man, they’ll have to pay and beat big competition to get him.
