In need of depth at full-back, Leeds United are prowling their former hunting grounds ahead of the January transfer window: Italy.
This is, at least, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who claim the Championship club, alongside Sheffield, although there’s no indication whether that is Sheffield Wednesday or Sheffield United, are interested in Genoa’s Aleandro Rosi.
Either way, Leeds are said to be after the 30-year-old, who is currently in talks with Genoa about a contract renewal, but the length of said offer is causing problems, following a previous report from Italy explaining Rosi is after a new three-year deal while the club are only offering him two.
Considering his current contract runs out in June 2018, this is becoming a semi-urgent situation for the Serie A club, and the last thing they’ll want is for him to start speaking to other clubs, especially in England, come the beginning of January.
Having to use Gaetano Berardi at left-back these days, Leeds United are clearly the more desperate ones here, and we’ll have to see what happens in the coming week or so.
If Genoa bow down to Rosi’s demands and give him the contract he wants, then a move to Elland Road will be off the cards, as we have a sneaky suspicion this belated interest in the veteran defender was all about a potentially cheap deal.
