Leeds United have identified PSV Eindhoven defender Philipp Max as a target this summer, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

TMW explain the Whites have decided to put €8m on the table for the left-back. That’s about the only information mentioned in the report.

Leeds would like to add the 28-year-old to their squad next season. This is reported in the Dutch press by Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by FcUpdate.

The Germany international had to settle for a place on the bench on a few occasions last season because Mauro Júnior, who usually operates as a right-back, was preferred on the left side of the defence. The Brazilian is now recovering from an injury, while Max has managed to regain his best form.

Therefore, the Eredivisie side would like to keep him in their squad, especially given that the new season starts in just over a week’s time.

He has two years left on his contract at PSV.

With Leeds ‘thinking’ about Max, ED explain the PSV leaders would only agree to sell the fullback for a ‘crazy offer’. There’s no mention what fee would be viewed as ‘crazy’ by the Dutch club, but it has to be well above his current market value, which is around €8m.

Voetbal International state Max is of interest for clubs in England and Germany, but don’t provide any details of which sides in their report.
