Leeds target wasn’t at training on Wednesday morning – Manager confirms loan exit

Much like many clubs around England, Leeds United are scrambling around Europe trying to get some deals over the line.

The double transfer of Facundo Colidio and Ryan Nolan from Inter is still being worked on, and the arrival of a new goalkeeper is also in the works.

Reports of Leeds’ interest in Lorient’s Illan Meslier have already emerged in England, but Ouest-France reveal how advanced the deal actually is.

According to the local French outlet, the young goalkeeper didn’t take part in the Ligue 2 club’s Wednesday morning training session, and Christophe Pellissier, their manager, has confirmed the 19-year-old should leave the club via a loan without saying where.

Despite winning the starting role last season, the arrival of Paul Nardi from Monaco has added extra competition for Meslier, and with the former Cercle Brugge loanee starting the first two games of the new campaign, a loan seems the best move for everyone involved.

We’ll just have to see whether Marcelo Bielsa sees the France U20 international as a starter at Elland Road once he gets his man.
