While Illan Meslier has looked like the future in goal for Leeds United, it could be that Jesse Marsch has other plans for the squad going forward.

There was no denying that Marcelo Bielsa fully trusted the young Frenchman between the sticks, but the fact he has kept just three clean sheets for the Elland Road side this season and let in 66 goals in 30 games cannot be ignored.

That might be why, at least according to Fanatik in Turkey, Leeds are looking at other options for the goalkeeping position going forward.

The outlet claim that the Whites have ‘stepped in’ for Uğurcan Çakir, who currently plays for Trabzonspor in the Süper Lig.

Heavily linked with Newcastle, the 25-year-old is expected to leave Turkey in the upcoming transfer window, but Leeds could very well challenge the Magpies for his signature.

Fanatik explain that ‘officials of the British team contacted the agent’ of the goalkeeper, and the Premier League side ‘may knock on Trabzonspor’s door’ going forward.

We’ll have to wait and see if they do, but it’s certainly something to keep an eye on going forward.
