Brazilian outlet UOL today brings a piece about a couple of targets Barcelona have for the summer transfer window. Those are Ajax’s Anthony and Leeds United’s Raphinha.
It’s been reported for a few months that the Catalan side are keeping an eye on the Whites’ star, and it’s now said his agent Deco is already in talks for this transfer.
What’s actually surprising in UOL’s story is that they point out that Newcastle United have recently been interested in the Leeds star, and even made an attempt for the signing.
According to the report, the Brazilian was ‘recently the target of a £35m bid from Newcastle’. However, there was ‘no agreement between the parties involved’.
The very same outlet recently reported that Raphinha and Leeds United are still to find an agreement for a contract renewal.
It’s said the player doesn’t want the release clause to stay at £70m, as that will harm his chances of a summer move.
Now regardless of that price, it indeed sounds like Newcastle’s offer was too low for a talent who’s been rising in the Premier League, and could cost double their initial bid if someone is interested enough.
