Leeds United are among several clubs interested to sign Standard Liège’s Nicolas Raskin, according to Voetbal Nieuws.

The midfielder’s contract expires next June and reports in Belgium have said his employer offered him a new deal worth €1.8m per year.

It was also stated he has refused this deal and Standard Liège’s have relegated the 21-year-old to their B team. They are now hoping to sell him in the winter market.

Raskin took to Twitter to explain he has not received any offer from the Jupiler Pro League side. The player has also revealed he showed no willingness to leave his employer in the summer even though they want to sell him to another Belgian club.

Club Brugge tried signing the Belgium U21 international on two occasions in the past, but he refused to join them. The current situation could give them another opportunity since Standard Liège are open to offloading him in January, if there is ‘any interesting offer’.

Voetbal Nieuws explain there has been a lot of interest in Raskin. Apart from Club Brugge, Leeds United, SC Braga, Genoa, Fiorentina, Marseille, Lille and Rangers are named as ‘potential buyers’.

It’s claimed Raskin ‘prefers’ a move to the Premier League, but only Leeds United ‘showed interest in him’.

It will be down to Jesse Marsch’s side to convince Raskin and present an ‘interesting offer’ to Standard Liège to try and secure the deal in January.
