Charles De Ketelaere finished the 2021/22 campaign with 18 goals and 10 assists and his fine displays convinced Leeds United to make an effort to sign him this summer.
Earlier this week, RTL journalist Alexandre Braeckman stated the Whites have made an offer worth €30m plus €7m in add-ons to Club Brugge. This offer was higher than the one made by AC Milan, who are also interested in the forward.
It was also explained Leeds are hoping to convince the 21-year-old to change his mind as he has been favouring a move to the San Siro.
Sky Italia now explain Jesse Marsch’s side have ‘almost resigned themselves’ to not being able to sign the Belgium international. It’s said Leeds are showing ‘signs of surrender’ due to the player’s desire to join the Serie A winners.
With the versatile player giving priority to the Italian champions, they are now working to quickly agree a deal with Club Brugge. Their initial offer of €20m plus bonuses was turned down.
Meanwhile, De Ketelaere is asking Milan chiefs Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara for assurances over playing time and ‘continuity of employment’.
As much as the Italian media dismiss Leeds United’s chances, it’s worth noting they did the same with Sven Botman and Newcastle United.
