While Leeds United might not be in the best place in the Premier League, they know there is still time to turn things around at Elland Road.
They hired Javi Gracia to do just that, and the aim is to avoid the drop back to the Championship before regrouping over the summer to ensure this season doesn’t happen again.
Money should be spent to do that, and while they will have a budget set for that stemming from TV revenue, sponsorships and so on, Leeds could also benefit from an exit they negotiated in last summer.
That’s because of the clause they negotiated in the transfer of Elia Caprile to Bari, allowing the goalkeeper to leave for a minimal fee, as well as 50% of a future transfer.
The goalkeeper has impressed greatly this season with the Serie B side, and Corriere del Mezzogiorno now believe it’s ‘impossible’ for him to playing in Italy’s second-tier next season.
Bari are currently third in the table, meaning they are in a spot to qualify for the semi-finals of the promotion playoffs, but if they fail to do that, the belief is Caprile will be sold.
One of the reasons for that is money, of course, but also due to the fact a few clubs are already sniffing around the goalkeeper, including Napoli and Benfica.
The newspaper explain the player is ‘continuing to make the difference’ for Bari, and it’s ‘very probable’ that he will head to a bigger club in the summer.
Napoli are ‘in the front row’ for him, as they are owned by the De Laurentiis family and the former Leeds goalkeeper has himself expressed his love for the Serie A side.
For Leeds in general, this is great news, as it appears Victor Orta’s smart move could pay off in the space of 12 months.
