Leeds United are monitoring talks between AC Milan and Club Brugge for Charles de Ketelaere ‘very, very closely’ as they look to ‘steal’ him should they falter.
That’s according to journalist Alexandre Braeckman, who says the Italian side are locked in talks to sign the striker this summer.
According to his information, Brugge have opened the door to negotiations for their prized asset, making it clear what they want if he is to depart.
There is ‘optimism’ from both them and AC Milan that a deal can be struck, although a final meeting between those in charge of both clubs did not result in a final offer being made.
Details of the deal are still being negotiated, but the amount being communicated by Brugge is being kept private for now.
Progress is being made, but Leeds are hoping that the talks will falter once again so they can make their own move for the highly-rated Belgian.
The talks are being ‘very closely monitored’ by those in charge at Elland Road, and they will ‘counter-attack in the aftermath’ is no deal is reached.
In fact, they are ready to ‘steal’ De Ketelaere if Milan and Brugges cannot strike an agreement.
That remains to be seen, with the Belgian side remaining firm and their Italian counterparts trying to work something out.
If they can’t, Leeds are waiting in the wings, ready to swoop, having not given up on signing De Ketelaere just yet.
Ces discussions sont suivies de très près par le #LUFC, qui contre-attaquera dans la foulée si aucun accord n'est trouvé. Ils sont prêts à "voler" le joueur si le deal Milan-Bruges échoue. #Mercato #DeKetelaere
