Nice are mounting a late challenge to prise Bamba Dieng away from Leeds United, with their ‘bid higher’ than that of the Premier League side.

That’s according to RMC Sport, who say the French side have offered a figure that is ‘slightly higher’ than the one being proposed by Jesse Marsch and co.

Dieng has emerged as a deadline day target for Leeds, who are keen to add another striker to their squad before the end of the window.

Several reports in France and England had them closing in on a deal but Nice have emerged as a late contender for his signature.

That’s thrown a spanner in the works as Dieng made it clear earlier in the window that Nice would be his preferred option should he be on the move this summer.

RMC Sport follow that up, stating that they have made a ‘higher offer’ than the one proposed by Leeds.

This is backed up by journalist Santi Aouna, who says the French side have ‘made a last-minute offer’ for Dieng with a proposal of €12m with a percentage on a future resale.

Dieng is now ‘considering’ his options as he has always been attracted to the offer from Nice and that remains the case. Marseille, though, would ‘prefer him to go’ to England so he is not strengthening a rival.

Thus, negotiations are continuing and while nothing is decided, Leeds are now facing serious competition for Dieng’s signature.
